Troy University
Starting my journey of learning about costume technology and crafts while in university, these are a few of the projects and shows I worked on. From Independent studies to fully realized productions. These projects took place between Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.
Projects & Shows

Independent Study - Recreation 1950's Dress
Designed & Crafted by Jarod Lewis
This was the final for my independent study on pattern making. I was given the image of a 1950's Dior dress and was told to recreate the silhouette, any fabric could be used as long as it kept with the theme of the original. I chose to go with an orange and black striped taffeta and black moire.

Millinery & Ventilating Class - Saucer Hat
Designed & Crafted by Jarod Lewis
The final hat to create the millinery portion of the class was a structured hat. I decided to create a saucer hat that would match the style and go with the dress from my pattern making independent study. The base is made of buckram, baby felt, and millinery wires. Using radial pleats on the underside made the hat look like it was giving off rays of light surrounding the head.

Flyin' West - Minnie's Dress
Designed by Chanda Hawthorne
Constructed by Jarod Lewis
This was the first outfit that I was tasked with patterning and building for a show. The fabrics chosen were a multicolored taffeta that would change from purple to when rotated. I was tasked with making the dress as two others constructed the jacket and hat for Minnie.

Mask Masterclass - Goblin Mask
Designed & Constructed by Jarod Lewis
This make was created using the supplied thermoplastic for the master class. The mold was made using an oil based clay and then covered in aluminum foil. We used heat guns to shape the thermoplast around the mold and then painted with acrylic paints. The horns were made of wire, foil, and paper mache.

Dance Show - Elements - Earth Corsets
Designed by Scott Anderson
Constructed by Jarod Lewis, Chanda Hawthorne, Jordan New & Costume Shop
These outfits were for the section "Earth" during the spring dance show "Elements".

Millinery & Ventilating Class - Wig & Mustache
Constructed by Jarod Lewis
The final project for the course was to do a fully ventilated wig cap. Having finished mine with a few days to spare, was then tasked to create a mustache, style of my choice.
