About Jarod Lewis

Growing up in Eastern Kentucky I knew that there was always more to life than the small towns in the Appalachian Mountains. I was able to find my way across the world and back by working in music, live entertainment, and costuming. Now residing in New York City, as the Costume Shop Manager for the New York City Ballet, I continue to push my technical skill sets by working with masters of the trades.

While working on my Bachelors of Arts in Music at Morehead State University I worked during the summers as touring audio engineer for different groups in DCI, Drum Corps International, and WGI, Winter Guard International Percussion. During the school semesters I would work as the recording engineer for the Music Department recording all the concerts and working with ensembles for their shows.

Studying Music Industry and Technical Theatre at Troy University introduced me to the world of costume technology. Here I began my journey towards learning how the engineering side of theatrical garment construction works. With these skills I've been able to work at venues such as Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, The Rep, and Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre.

During my time in Chicago, IL I worked at Halsey Onstage as Assistant Designer and Shop Manager to the late Travis Halsey where we created garments for Ballet, Opera, Musical Theatre, Television, and more. Here we made, on average, 120 unique costumes every year that are now worn around the world.
